The Laundromat Project is an arts and social justice organization in Brooklyn that is empowering both artists and neighbors to become powerful agents of change in their own communities. As their website beautifully states, they ignite imagination and tradition in community while fostering leadership among neighbors through their incredible Create Change artist development programs, as well as their creative initiatives across the city that never sleeps.
This remarkable organization is dedicated to investing in a diverse and dynamic community of artists and neighbors who are committed to creating a better society.
They support these individuals through their artmaking while promoting social cohesion and leadership development initiatives. From day one, The LP has been an organization that truly centers the voices, cultures, imaginations, knowledge, and leadership of people of color (POC). Their POC-Centered Principles are a must-read for anyone looking to learn more about their work.
Become a part of their movement by joining the Catalyst Circle. As is well articulated on their site, sustaining donations are a truly powerful way to provide emerging artists of color with the essential support, knowledge, tools, and networks they need to use their creativity to tackle some of society's most pressing challenges. This is really important work.
